Call our office today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Hwang or to discuss your options for dental implants.

  1. Why should I choose a dentist who specializes in dental implants?

Dentists today do not always have the specific training to handle dental implants and if dental implants are placed improperly, you will find that they fail quickly and will not work out for you. A dentist that specializes in implants, such as Dr. Hwang, can ensure that placement of your dental implants is perfect and goes smoothly. Implant specialists have an additional three to four years of dental training above and beyond what general dentists receive. This helps to ensure that your implants are placed correctly.

  1. Is a dental x-ray always needed and is it safe for me to have done?

In most cases, a dental x-ray WILL be needed. The reason for this is because if an x-ray is not performed, then the dentist is flying solo when they work on your tooth or teeth. An x-ray is a picture of the tooth, gums, and bone and it allows Dr. Hwang to identify any problems that may exist. In addition, some dental conditions may mask themselves as others and this can lead to improper treatment, should you not have an x-ray performed. Dental x-rays present little risk to you.

  1. How do you know if I am a good candidate for dental implants?

  • You have loose teeth or loose dentures
  • You are missing one or multiple teeth
  • You do not smoke
  • You have a dental bridge that collects food particles under it
  • You have problems chewing

Dr. Hwang will be able to provide you with a comprehensive dental implant consultation to determine if you are a good candidate. Our Bayside, NY office is equipped with the best technology to ensure a proper and happy procedure.

  1. How many times will I need to come into your office for a procedure when getting dental implants?

It depends. If you want immediate implants, then you will only need to come into our office once to have your teeth extracted and the implants placed. If you want traditional dental implants, then you will need to come into our office to have your teeth extracted and then come back once the gums are healed to have the implants placed.
